Issue with Apple TV not recognizing the home sharing option in itunes. Calls for paswrod but even when added it still does not recognize it. iTunes indicates that the home sharing optionis on but this is apparently not seen by Appletv. How can this be resolved?

Hi Augstiner57, I have the same problem. Did you figure it out? Mine seems to have happened after I updated Apple TV. Now it doesn't recognize my Home Sharing even though on my MacBook is it turned on.
I am running an old OS though (Leopard) so I am wondering if I need to upgrade.

I recently solved this issue with Apple TV.
Go to itunes preferences and select library name. I found that one could only add three letters in my version but I selected the who frame and then deleted what was there. Then I added the name of my library and it workded.
I had McAfee (virus software) installed from my service provider and it prevented only Home Sharing from working, I uninstalled it and everything is working just fine!!!
I have home sharing turned on on my computer but the Apple TV does not recognize it even though the same Appleid and password is used. Does anyone have this issue and, if so, how did you resolve it?
