I am getting a error-1 upon exporting the project on fcpx 10.0.8. It crashes on the processes on different frames, any idea's suggestions?
(all my files project/media is on an external drive)

I'm getting the same error, but always on frame 0. I did get some suggestions, but no resolution.
Rolled back to 10.0.7 to get something done.
I just fixed my problem by copying all the files into a new project and after rendering it worked. 🙂
(if in your case that doesn't work try converting the files to pro res 422) then reimport into fcp, then relink the,

Hi, I had this problem but did actually find the answer.....
I'd simply not got around to installing the latests software updates from apple before installing fcpx 10.0.8 (the ones under the apple menu).... these included ProRes422 codecs....
It was that simple.

What updates are you referring to?
These were the upates that I'd not got around to installing... I'm assuming the ProApps Codec was the one that sorted the problem out for me
I've now exported a clip that was failing every time before... and I've not edited it any further
Those codecs are new with 10.0.8.
Then a newer version needed to be installed. In any case it sorted my problem and I hope it helps someone else sort theirs!
I also have this error-1 when exporting since 10.0.8 in french version of FCPX. And a lot of fcpx french community friends have the same problem....
So my question is for Apple team :
Even if we can manage a solution (opening a new project and paste the old project's elements in it), when will you resolve that bug?

I am using the French version of FCPX. After applying the updates shown in the screenshot I have everything back in working order.
I did try moving my projects to another HDD and I did delete render files, I did restart the computer, but none of them had any effect until I installed the updates and restarted the computer.
I installed FCPX 10.0.8 before the ProApps QT codecs and have the error-1 export bug. Do you suggest to install the Codecs before FCPX 10.0.8?
Nope. That's just what I did. I did delete the render files using fcpx's file menu.Then I installed the ProApps update....after that I was back in business.
I finally got the solution by uninstall and reinstall fcpx 10.0.8. Seems to be working great since that.
I was having the same problem yesterday at home, and I'm having it again today on a different system. I was having problems outputing 5 min and 9:25 lenght projects and sections of those projects. At full and proxy rez, to compressed and uncompressed formats.
What I'm finding is that it happens with projects created in 10.0.7 and are then brought up to 10.0.8.
Here's what I've found and hopefully it works for you too
1. make sure your computer is up to date with all the app downloads
2. open your project
- select all (command+A)
- copy (command+C)
- create a new project
- paste the media into the new project (command+V)
3. Render all (this is an importnat step in this process)
4. Output
Yes that's great Mattyc.edits that should work as it did for me, I arealy instructed that Technique earlier in my posts but thanks for the detailed instructions
In my experience, the -1 error also happened with new projects created in 10.0.8.
And in the copy-paste into a new project solution, once more in my experience, you dont have to render before to export, rendering will be done during the export without any problem.
But if you want to get rid of this bug, reinstall fcp10.0.8. It worked for me!
