what ever happened to helping???

what happened to me was that my hard disk fried in my old computer, and the majority of the music from my ipod was from cd, it transferred the purchased tunes no problem, but... without doing all this stuff previously (the fairly opaque and not well written steps including many things to modify prior to my computer crashing), how can i transfer my music from my ipod to my computer???
