How do I merge my itunes account and apps with my husband's itunes account?

How do I merge my itunes account with my husband? I have apps I have paid for and he has apps he has paid for that we want to share with each other but don't want to sinc our phones to each other's account. I don't know much about apple or itunes but this seems like is should be possible. Anyone have any advice for me on this front?
