OS X mountain lion will not install

I looked at the other forums and they all said took up to two hours, I let it over night and nothing happened, just says waiting and is sitting in my dock. I then tried again a couple of times and it does the same thing.

My laptop is 10.6.8 so it said it would work, what can I do?
