show short form of date
Hi,
Actually I treid to enter the german support forum, but apple won´t let don´t know why. So here we go:
I´m creating a calendar spreadsheet.
Column A uses A1 =DATUM(JAHR(A1);MONAT(A1);TAG(A1)) to show a specific date (that´s DAY(Year... (Month (Day..)))
A4 looks like: =A1
A5 will look like this: =DATUM(JAHR(A4);MONAT(A4);TAG(A4)+1) (So I´m incrementing the days)
A6 will be =DATUM(JAHR(A5);MONAT(A5);TAG(A5)+1)
I´m using this to create the days for a specific month. Works fine.
So now after I have all the dates created in Column A, I want the days of the week to display in column B.
So I use: =TAGNAME(A4) (which translates into DAYNAME(A4)). Works great I get all the right days of the week. BUT: Numbers gives me the full Name of the Day not the short one.
So I get for example "Monday" but I want "Mo" instead.
So I open the info Dialog for the cell. I create my own format and it let´s me choos wether I want the full Name or short Version. I choose the short Version but it does not display. I still get the long name of the day. Ideas anybody?
