Bootcamp dilemma

I need to install Windows on my mid 2010 iMac. I am running Mountain Lion. Bootcamp wants you to install a 64 bit version of Windows, Apple says I should use the 32 bit version with my 32 bit computer. Will the 64 bit version work on my computer? Do I have a choice in Mountain Lion to install a 32 bit or 64 bit version? So should I use Bootcamp 4 instead of 5? Thanks for any help.

Your Mid 2010 iMac supports a 64-bit Windows version, but then, depending if you have a 21'5 or a 27-inch iMac, you have to get the Boot Camp 4 or 5 drivers. In both cases, you can use a 64-bit operating system.

As I see that you are using Mac OS X Snow Leopard, you can't get the drivers from Boot Camp Assistant, so you have to download them from these pages:

- Boot Camp 4 > http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1630?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

- Boot Camp 5 > http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1638

You have to burn the drivers onto a USB drive or DVD, and install them in Windows after installing it. Then, you have all the steps to install Windows on your Mac in this page > http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_10.8.pdf
