Hi Jarrod,
Being able to repair the scratch on your phone comes down to the scratches depth. If you are able to feel the scratch with your fingernail, it might be too deep to repair.
If the scratch is not too deep, the best way to eliminate the scratch would be to polish the touch screen panel with a buffing compound that is made specifically for gorilla glass. This is important due to the overall hardness of gorilla glass on the Mohs Scale of Mineral Hardness. As you can see, there are maaaaany minerals floating about that will scratch gorilla glass in a heartbeat. Especially minerals in sand which are harder than both glass and gorilla glass.

So far, I have only come across one polishing compound for gorilla glass that I have been successful with and it is here...

Also, if you are wondering about the oleophobic coating on the touch screen that makes it easy to clean and smooth to the touch, you can reapply the coating after buffing out the scratch. Here's an example...

Other than buffing out the scratch or trying to cover it up with a screen protector, the only other options you have are to replace the touch screen panel yourself (most likely voiding the warranty), find a good deal on a third party repair facility that keeps the warranty intact, or pay Apple's HIGH prices concerning repair.
