iMac minidisplay out not displaying colours properly

Basically I have a 39" TV that I have plugged into my iMac using VGA and a minidisplay port to VGA adaptor. The output on my iMac is fine, I tested it with an old 17" monitor and a new 21" monitor. No problems whatsoever. The TV is working fine as well, it's brand new. Earlier today I had the iMac plugged into it with no problems. I tested the TV with a laptop over VGA and it seems to be displaying properly. This is the iMac display normally:http://i.imgur.com/x6haCVg.jpgHere's where it gets odd, when I plug the iMac to the tv now the screen on both the iMac and TV goes like this: http://i.imgur.com/tJNiDd6.jpgThen when I unplug the TV from the iMac the dock goes like this, but nowhere else: http://i.imgur.com/3duBvOc.jpg

I have no idea what the problem would be, everything seems to be working fine.

Yet when I rebooted to my bootcamp partition everything worked fine.

It's the same no matter what option I choose. Extended or mirrored. I also noticed that the colours do not mess up on the dock which is very odd. Yet when I unplug the cable and the screen turns to normal the colours on the dock are now messed up. You can see the problem on the images above. It's just odd because it works perfectly on windows.

It's still the same on that new account. Colours are strange. It doesn't affect the main iMac display when you have an extended desktop but it does when ever you mirror the screen. When in extended desktop mode and I move a finder window over to the external screen and then back it changes to the strange colour when it's moved to that display... I checked the color profile settings for the screen but it looks normal. Very odd.
