This is an authentic store... This store is even appearing in the link provided by Mr. Lanny  (Thanks, Mr. Lanny)

The store guy claims that, they have returned all the DVDs back to apple and this is the way they work (for upgrading software)...... If there is a way to check the authenticity of software, I am willing to take the risk... I dont' see any other way of upgrading the OS...... If you could suggest any other way (For countries where online purchase is not possible), it will be great......

You can be confident that Lanny's store list is spot on.

It's just that I can't see how this way allows you to own the OS and be obliged to operate it within the usual OS agreement ... in fact it doesn't allow you any kind of agreement with Apple.   And as a re-seller, the store is not Apple, it's merely an authorised franchise.

Maybe someone has other thoughts about this.

As far as alternate ways go, you cannot download Snow Leopard.  Not in the USA, not in the UK, not India, nowhere.   It has to be a DVD upgrade.

I perfectly agree with you....... That is why raising my apprehension in this forum.... Can this be really legitimate....? If the store guy's claim is true, how can I validate the same??? When I asked this question to him, he replies "Sir, If you come to authroized reseller and ask me how you can be sure that, this is indeed an authentic product, what should I say of this"..... He is of the claim that, all products sold in his shop are authentic.. I am not able to take this claim at face value.... Wanted to cross check... But don't know where I can.....

Well, if no-one comes in with a better suggestion, I suggest you write to Apple at Retail.

This should connect you to the Indian headquarters for Retail operations.   It includes email and Telephone numbers.   They ought to be able to confirm if you are buying from a legitimate source in a legitimate manner.

Am sorry to contradict. But the link you provided takes me to a website which describes itself as "Apple Group Of Companies, one of the best leading conglomerates was founded by Mr. Ashish Garg in the year 2000." I am afraid this has nothing to do with the company founded by Steve.

Try another reseller, there are many, until you find one that has the actual DVD for sale. You'll want the DVD, if for no other reason, in case you need to reinstall or boot from it.

And I am sorry to have picked the wrong Apple     I think this is the one to have contact with.   Apple India Office Address, Toll Free Helpline Number | Customer Care

If you haven't tried them already they would certainly advise you and confirm that the other company is not supplying as they should do.

Hello Sir!!! Thanks a lot with the link..... I checked with the customer care... they have confirmed that it is perfectly fine that I got the Snow Leopard Installed without a DVD.... They just advised me that it will be better if I upgrade it further to Mountain Lion so that I can get the system corrected online in case of any crashes....... Thanks a lot for all of you for the support...

The problem is that w/o the install DVD, you can't reinstall SL and will have to return to the dealer to reinstall it. Additonally, ML forces you to leave all PPC apps behind so you can have your machine mimic an iOS device.
