Can anyone provide information on locating an owner of a found IPod Touch? We found an iPod Touch on the OBX beach in Corolla, NC recently and want to get the device to its owner. Any help would be great.

Did you report it to the police?
I did not report it yet...I don't trust they will do anything with it.
I just want to make sure that the owner gets it back.

Some have posted that if you give the SN of the iPod to Apple then will contact the registered owned but some say Apple will do nothing.
Is it pass code protected? If not, go to Utilities > Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar, You will see the email addresses set for the iPod. Try emailing the owner at one of those addresses.
If it is locked, try taking the iPod to a place with public wi-fi such as McDonalds. If the owner has set up Find my iPhone on the iPod, they may have tried to track it via that app and may have sent a message that will appear on the iPod if connected to a wi-fi source.
