Recompressing Files in Final Cut 7

Hello All,

I am having some issues with my project in FC7. I made a mistake by editing in h.264 and I have many clips shots on different cameras.

I have changed the sequence settings to an apple pro res, but only after I realized I was doing it all wrong. I also recompressed my files to an apple pro res proxy 422, but after wards when I saved and reopened the project the files in my sequence were all still h.264 compressor.

Is there something I am doing wrong?

Also, in the future how am I correctly suppose to add the clips into my timeline that are in an h.264 compressing format. Do I simply import the files than recompress them in final cut then discard the h.264 files?

I have no experience with the compressing program and this is my first project.

Sorry for the nub question. 😟
