What happens when you try to open Calendar (in OS X 10.8, iCal is called Calendar)? Do you see any error?
Hello Thanks for your interest
Nothing happens when I click on calendar.
If I restart the computor thein it bounces twice only and then nothing happens
Roger
Have you tried opening it directly from the Applications folder, or just the Dock?
From both and from Launchpad too
Roger
When you updated to 10.8.3 did you do it via the Software Update menu? If so, you could try re-applying the update using the 'combo'. The combo contains all the updates since 10.8.0 and is often a good way of sorting out odd issues after an update that's gone slightly wonky:
That sounds a good idea but I think I automatically update
Please can you expalin waht you mean and a stepwise method?

Sorry, not sure what you mean.
If you updated automatically it would have used what's known as the 'delta' updater. This is a much smaller download as it only includes the revisions from the previous version of the OS. In this case, just the changes from 10.8.2 to 10.8.3.
As I said, the combo contains all revisions built into the OS since its original launch. Re-applying the update using the combo often sorts out any anomalies.
I mean that my imac asks me everyday " do I want to update software " and I always say yes
I do not know how to use the combo
Roger
It's very straightforward - download the combo from the link I gave in my earlier post. It should arrive in your Downloads folder, unless you have changed the destination in your web browser. The file is quite large so may take a while to d/load depending on the speed of your internet connection.
Once downloaded, double-click on it to expand the file, a window will open with the updater file ready to run. Double-click on it and let it do its work. You may be prompted for your admin password. Once updated you'll be required to restart. Test Calendar (iCal as it used to be called) to see if the problem is resolved.
Thank you I have downloaded the combo and restarted.
Calendar still does not work
Roger
Mmm - does it work if you do a Safe Boot?
Restart holding down the shift key until you see a grey progress bar. Once booted try Calendar. Does it work? Restart as normal from the Apple menu and try it again.
No
It bounces up and down and then a numbe r4 in reda appears on the icon

Run a disk permissions check, it might help you.
Boot into Recovery mode (CMD + R) and then select Disk utilities.
Select First Aid and the Mac HD partition.
Run the disk permissions check and repair any if found.
I'm afraid I've run out of ideas 😟.
If after trying oBs barcode's suggestion you're still having problems you may need to consider a complete re-install of the OS - re-downloading from the App Store, which will provide the full 10.8.3 installer (you won't need to pay again).
You can either do it from the App Store or re-install via the Recovery HD as mentioned in the post above.
You could also wait to see if anyone else spots this thread and has some new ideas. Let us know if you get it resolved.
If its a setting issue redownloading and installing wont fix it. That will do a archive reinstall. So if the issue is related to a program or setting the issue will still be there. You can try a reinstall like that but there is a chance that you might need to do an erase and install.
