First time syncing iTunes to iPad

This the first time that I have synced my iPad to my computer for the first. Thinking back to when I synced my iPod to my computer, I would get a screen display that that said "Do not disconnect and iTunes would tell you that the Syncing process is complete. At that time you would know it was OK to pull the cord. There was no notification on eitherbthe MacBook or the iPad that anything was going on. I transferred over 300 songs from my MacBook 2,0 laptop over to the music App on the iPad. The music library is there, including the playlists, but when I click on a particular song, the clock the progress bar do not advance. Could it be that I did allow enough time for the syncing cycle to complete?

No response from Discussion Group....Encoutered other probems and further testing reSolved trouble. 1) iTunes did not detect iPad > Activate Show Side Bar in VIEW; 2) Unable to tweak iTune options on iPad and visualize syncing progress bar>resolved byshowing side bar thus showing more of the iTunes Header bar; 3) iPad showed iRunes Library but would not play music in Music App, Multiple music titles would scroll acrossMusic App Header bar >Performed Power Recycleon iPad to resolve item 3)
