Excess Users / Groups in Server Tool

I have recently installed Server Tools onto a remote machine to administer a Mountain Lion server. Everything going fine.

However, I ran into a permissions issue and propogated permissions, ticking all boxes, POSIX and ACL.

When I came back to the machine I note there are now about 20 users, and 20 groups pertaining to different aspects of the system by application or service name, eg. Asset Cache Service, Calendar etc.

These appear when logging into Server from a remote machine using the server admin account, however, they don't appear, oddly, when logging directly into the server using the same account.

It's annoying having these lists filled with all this stuff but I don't want to delete these accounts in case they are important system level users and groups.

Any ideas?
