Q: This does not address recovering data backed up by time machine. How does that work?
My MacBook Pro is infected with something consuming 99% of the CPU. I restored my system from before my last software update (a Java update and something else I did not note) but the symptoms persist. I have my Snow Leopard install disk and would like to reinstall the OS X but all the instructions tell me I have to erase my hard disk again and also that I need an Application install disk, which I do not have and don't know as I ever did. If I did, it is on another continent where I have a second home. Recovering using time machine takes 7 hours. And if I reinstall the OS X and then restore with Time Machine it will reinstall the infected system on top of the new one I just installed. I just tried copying files from my hard disk to my Time Capsule and the system refuses to do it. What do I do?
Intel iMac dual processor, iMac G3, iBook G4, Powerbook G4, Mac OS X (10.4.6)
