My buddy just upgraded to the iphone 5 he also changed his number. So now when you go to iMessage it has his old number but you have to call the new number to talk to him. How do I change the iMessage to the new number?????

Is his new number in your contacts?
If so, in the Messages app, start a new conversation and use his new number.
Yes it is, but if I text the new number it goes out as a standed MSM not a imessage. I have to text the old number for it to be a imessage
Then it's probably a problem in their end. Have them go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive, and see if the new number is listed.
