Q: why are there two copies of my music files
My music files in iTunes were flagged with an explination point indicating the file was not found. I have over 5000 songs in my library. Most of the files were flagged. I copied all of my music files to another folder, deleted the songs and their folders in the iTunes folder, and ran a search on my computer to verify there were no other locations the music files were being kept. I moved all of the music files to the "not yet added to iTunes" folder. When I opened iTunes I was able to confirm the library was empty. iTunes automatically added my music files to the library and created folders for artists along with moving the song file to the folder. After iTunes completed "volume leveling" of all of the songs it shows two copies of all of the songs in iTunes. I looked in the folder and there are duplicates in all of the folders. What do I do to fix this? I do not want to have two copies of all of my music files. I am suspecting the duplicate file is the volume leveled version? Why wouldn't iTunes delete the original, or is there a way to have it do so?
Thanks
