My iPod is stuck in Recovery Mode after trying to Update...

I was trying to update my ipod 4th gen (ios 6.1.3 or something like that) and it went into Recovery Mode.

My laptop have Windows XP on it and doesn't allow me to plug anything into the USB thingys. I've tried everything to get them to work, but it won't work.

I have also tried to do a hard reset on my ipod, and also tried holding down the home & power button until the apple icon pops up then hold one home button for 5 secs or whatever and it won't work.

What should I do?

I might give my ipod to a friend and see if her laptop will let me restore it. But it won't be for awhile. /:

I have the same problem, just posted a new entry on the discussion forum. However, I just tried your solution, and guess what?! My whole iPod went black now, even the recovery mode screen won't come on. It appears that following this solution just made my problem worse. I love my iPod and cannot afford a new one. The whole problem started when I was forced to run a software update which I didn't really want to do in the first place. The iPod locked up during that update and I haven't been able to use it since. Please see my entry from about 30 minutes ago in the discussion forum for details. Any suggestions or solutions? Thank you!

Try:

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

- Try on another computer

- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
