My iPod Touch 2nd Gen is becoming useless.

Many of the apps I paid for are crashing and the new apps won't work (iOS). I have a 286PC that still runs the programs I paid in the 1990s why can't Apple products do the same? I understand that I can't expect a iPod 2nd gen to run the new apps, but it still should run the apps I paid for. I was under the imrpession the Apple ran a great customer-oriented business?

IPOD Touch 4gen, iOS 4, iOS 4.2

See:

iOS: Troubleshooting applications purchased from the App Store

Contact the developer/go to their support site if only one app.

Restore from backup. See:

iOS: How to back up

Restore to factory settings/new iPod

Before you delete apps from the iPod or restore the iPod make sure that your iTunes library has the version of apps that are presently installed on your iPod. Many apps have been update and the update apps are not compatible with the 2G iPod. I would do that by deleting the apps from your iTunes library and then transfer them to your iTunes library. See:

iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer

In iTunes 11 use Control+B to show the Menu bar then go to iTunes>File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
