Help: Backlight bleed on 2012 27" iMac

Hi All,

I received my second 2012 27'' iMac yesterday and was thinking everything should be fine, since i got my first replacement because of the image retention/ghosting issue. So, here is the dissapointment. It seems my new iMac has even worse problems. I have tested the screen next to my 13" MacBook Air and there is a huge difference between the two screens.

I don't know if is not going to happen on my next replacement. Do you guys have any late 2012 iMac screens without defect? If this defect exits in all screens, I need to find a different solution.

The screen is defective. I have heard a lot of problems about the Late 2012 iMac screens, and as your Mac isn't perfect, you must return it and receive another one until you get one without any problems.

Not all Late 2012 27-inch iMacs are affected by display problems, but some of them have problems that turn those computers into unusable Macs, so a lot are being returned

I got my nearly perfect screen on 4th replacement. There are still some yellow shadow in the dark when you take the picture with iPhone but I t hink it is the nature of IPS screen and the yellow shadows will change based on your viewing angle.

It is is important not to have any bleeding when you look to the screen during the daylight.

Ok i managed to take some photos of my problem (if its not only before my eyes...)

the first set are in a totally dark room with the brightness

4/16 - 8/16 - 12/16 - 16/16

the second set is in a room with a little natural light

the third set are from watching a movie with 12/16 of brightness

and the last sets regards 4 photos taken with the camera centered in the corners. on the last set you can see that inthe top two and the bottom right corners, that the bleeding is cloudy, the bleeding becomes nearly invisible.

At the bottom left corner the bleeding, that its source is about 2-3 cm from the corner, remains and can be seen in nearly any black or generally dark colour on the screen regardless the amount of physical light.

Hello again

Finally after many discussions with the reseller and apple, the reseller decided that they should give me a new one although apple's conclusion was that the bleeding was at normal levels. Although the service department has found tha bleeding, they have sent apple's engineers a photo with the problem and they have replied that the bleeding is a normal and acceptable level.

So after recieving the new imac, thanks to the help of the reseller, a huge dissapointment came to me as the level of the bleeding was much worse than the old one. I submit some photos with the new and old imac in order for other people to be able to compare.

I could not imagine that the unacceptable for me first bleeding would be minor towards the one on the new.

Anyway i will report it again to apple as this machine cannot be used in order to video edit, watch a movie etc.

Huge dissapointment but will keep trying...
