My iphone died (out of battery) and when i start it,IOS 6 comes up and when i unlock it, it says conect to itunes, and i must recover it, PLS help!

So, when i started my iphone,it started normaly, But IOS 6 comes up on the sceen and i need to unlock it, and when i do that i must conect to itunes and recover it, but i have never put it in recovering mode or any thing like that, and im afrid i will lose all my contacts, pics and messages 😟 pleas help me 😟
