Did all content of iPad 3 get backed up to iTunes

Not all content is included in a backup - the contents of the Music and Videos aren't included (they should be in your computer's iTunes library anyway), photos that were synced from a computer aren't included, and nor are the actual apps (again they should be in your iTunes library), just their content and settings.

And no, you can't view the backup files on your computer, the backup will need to be restored onto an iOS device.

1, no, you can copy iTunes purchases from the iPad to your computer's iTunes via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases. Music (and videos) from other sources (e.g. copied from CDs or bought from other sites) will not be copied back from a device - you can either copy them over the computer that you originally synced them from, from your own backup of your content, or there are third-party computer programs which can copy them from a device (some are listed half-way down this page).

1. No Apps, music, movies, books, photos (except for the camera roll) are not stored in the backup. Those items are synced from iTunes. The backup contains only app data, documents, device settings, preferences, etc. - no media at all.

There are two primary ways to save purchased content from iTunes and the App Stores. You can use iCloud as your only "storage" and backup or you can use iTunes - or you can use both if you want to do so. I use both, but I rely on iTunes on my MacBook Pro as my primary way of storing and saving my purchases.

No matter which method that you choose - you do not actually backup apps, music, movies, etc. because if you use iCloud only, they can be downloaded again at no charge as long as you use the same Apple ID that you bought them with. If you sync with iTunes, they are stored in your iTunes library on your computer.

No matter what happens - you can always download most purchased content again. Not all content is available in all countries for iTunes in the cloud downloads.

content types are supported for iTunes in the Cloud by country, as well as where iTunes Match is available

Backups contain the "stuff" that your apps created ... documents, photos that you take with the iPad or save from emails and websites, Safari History and bookmarks, your iPad settings, Notes, calendar entries, text messages... those types of things.

I don't see an app specifically called "download" in the App Store. Is the name of the app "iDownloader Pro - Downloads and Download Manager" perhaps? If that is the app. You can use file sharing with iTunes to save the videos to the new MacBook Pro. Many of the apps that issue that are Download apps use file sharing.

If that's not the name of the app, post back with the exact name of the app. I reread your first post and see that you did reference "Download App" but I don't see it in the U.S. App Store. Are you in the U.S.?

You can read this about using file sharing in the meantime and maybe this will help. Besides, you should have some instructions/documentation in the app that explains how to do this if file transfer is offered in the app.

iOS: About File Sharing

File sharing is not part of backing up nor does it take place automatically when you sync with iTunes, but you do use file sharing when you sync with iTunes. Many apps support file sharing for the transfer of files from the iPad to your computer.

That is the app that I asked about in my last post. Read the app description on the app developer website. It says that it supports USB file transfer and file sharing with iTunes. You should be able to use one of those methods to get the videos onto the computer.

One of these methods has to work for you.

1. Yes, that is why. The videos did not transfer via the backup as they shouldnt have, so that is why the backup that you see is only 485MB.

2. I don't see why you will not be able to watch them on the computer. If the videos can be viewed on the iPad they should be viewable on the computer. Without knowing what format they are in .... but knowing that the iPad is a little "fussier" as to what are acceptable out of the box video formats .... they should play on your computer.

3. Honestly, I have no experience importing videos from the camera roll. I have imported photos a number of times, but with Photo Stream that is even easier to do now on a Mac. I would be inclined to try importing them with iPhoto or USB and see how that goes, and you can always use file sharing if it does not move fast enough for you.

With file sharing you can save the videos to the hard drive from iTunes and if you import them, you can save them via iPhoto on the Mac.
