want to know it others have tried take photos of photos to create files to use in computer/book creating. I am experiencing glare from flash and some distortion is there a box unit or some equipment that will make this easier? What have you found? looking for a low cost way to archive old photos / not even that old 2000's lets say...

1 - do what Terence suggested. That would be the best solution.
2 - turn off the flash.

Second the recommendation for a scanner.
If this is a DSLR with removeable flash, get an flash extension cord.
Create a copy stand with two lights that shine at a 45 degree angle and some way to mount the camera directly above the photo.
