Transferring Motion 4 files to Motion 5 Project

I have recently purchased FCPX and Motion 5 having used FCP Studio for several years. My first attempt to transfer a FCP7 project to FCPX using "7 to X Final Cut Pro" was partialy successful however, none of the Motion 4 files in the project would transfer.

Can't find information in the Motion 5 manual so I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

FCPX unlike FCP Studio does not allow you to open Motion Projects whether they are from Motion 4 or 5. In other words there is no round tripping in FCPX. You can open your Motion 4 projects in Motion 4 and save them as a Quicktime movie and import that to FCPX. Motion 5 will open some Motion 4 projects but not all since Motion 5 doesn't have all the same behaviors, filters image units etc.If the Motion 4 project opens in 5 you may still have to make some editing adjustments.Motion 5 has templates for transitions, titles, effects and generators that allow you to create those types of projects and publish them to FCPX and they will appear in the appropriate tab in FCPX effects browser. So if some of your Motion 4 projects fall in one of those categories then you might try that approach. Other wise save them as Quicktime movie and import to FCPX.
