My iMac optical drive is faulty.  To get around this problem I have an external LaCie drive connected via FireWire.  When using Toast to make DVD/CD copies the Toast application attempts to use the internal Optical drive. Is there any way I can either disable the Optical drive either through OSX commands or Toast Preferences?

iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2010), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3)

I select my external (or internal) at the bottom of the Roxio Toast window (do not currently have the external attached, so it isn't showing, but will if I plug it in):
