these are the bluetooth profiles supported by ios devices if you have other bluetooth devices or services that will not work

i am having a similar problem - my macbook pro 2010 (latest MAVERICKS OSX) has recognised and paired with my other bluetooth devices and shared files with them. except my new tablet. they are PAIRED but i get the notification 'network is not available'
i checked that bluetooth file sharing is selected in preferences / sharing.
should it be asking me to have a network connection? it does not request this for other bluetooth devices. has this changed with Mavericks from Snow Leopard?
checked lots of posts on here, still no clarity or solution. HOW ABOUT A RESPONSE FROM APPLE?
