Apr 8, 2013 8:44 AM in response to Danielle2015by Eustace Mendis,★HelpfulFirst thing is to figure out if the drive is too full. Click once the hard drive, and type command + i (both together). From the Info that comes up please record Capacity: .... and Available:.... and post back.
This is just a first step.
And please tell us also what version of Mac OS X you are running. (Click on Apple menu and select About This Mac.)

Apr 8, 2013 9:38 AM in response to Danielle2015by Eustace Mendis,Ok, that's great. Your drive is not close to full. Do you have a back up?
Before doing the next steps, it is important to make a back up, just in case something goes wrong. A back up is ajust a complete copy of everything that is on your computer, and you need an external hard drive for this.
A couple of other questions.
You posted that the computer is slow - what are the main things you do on the computer, and what is it that is slow?
Do you use Safari for internet browsing?

I have only had my mac book for about a year and its now starting to run slow i dont know what to do.
Before you proceed further, what and where is your slowdowns occuring and what do you see on the screen when it occurs?
If it's on the Internet only did you try other machines or other browsers, or other user accounts on the same machine to isolate where it's occuring?
If it's occuring on files loading when your offline, it's likely a bad hard drive or corruption.
Did you install something like Mackeeper or anti-virus software?
Did you try rebooting the machine? A runaway process can make the machine slow.
Is it only appearing with 3D games? A 13" MBP is not a 3D gaming machine, neither are most Mac's.
3D gaming on Mac's, what you need to know
Is it only appearing in one program and not others?
You should have a backup system in place regardless

Apr 8, 2013 10:04 AM in response to Danielle2015by Baby Boomer (USofA),Regarding your fans, see KB Article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1411 Apple Portables: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
Regarding your wifi issues: Is your MBP still slow when connected to the ethernet?
Try the basics first:Change your router channel number. Most times this works & is all you have to do.
Disconnect & reconnect your modem. unplug it for about 10 seconds. Plug it back in. Do the same for Apple’s routers. Wait for everything to reboot.
System Preferences>Network
Click the Assist Me button.
In the next window that pops up, click the Diagnostic button & do the necessary.
Research Knowledge Base for network problems that pertain to the OS that is currently installed on your computer. See these basic networking KB Articles: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1401 AirPort troubleshooting guide

Also, run the Airport Utility app which is located inside the Utilities folder.

If using a Linksys router, contact LinkSys Customer Support and/or post in their forums.
If using Apple's Airport, please re-post over in one of the AirPort Forums.

Apr 8, 2013 10:11 AM in response to Danielle2015by ds store,Well that's a start.
We have reboot covered, fans are going, it's only on Internet and Firefox has blue circle loading issues, since that occurs on the tabs so it's looking like a strickly Firefox issue.
Have you rebooted and not start Firefox, then tried Safari, does the issue still occur?
Check under Apple Menu > Software Update for any updates to OS X and or Apple programs and apply.
If it goes away using Safari, try uninstalling all Firefox add-ons and Firefox, then use Safari and check here for updates for your browser plug-ins.
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
Next install Firefox again from the same link above, it's version 20 now. But don't install any add-ons.
If your problem goes away then I think you found the problem.
Also check your Applications/Utilites/Activity Monitor and click on CPU to see if any process is consuiming more processor cycles than it really should be (like 100-200%) that indicates a runaway process and mention it here.

Apr 8, 2013 4:49 PM in response to Danielle2015by Eustace Mendis,Is your computer less that 12 months old? If it is, the warranty is still in effect, and you can ask a person at an Apple store to work with you to solve these issues.
Check at this link for your warranty status.
