How do I weld an articulating lamp arm to my 27” iMac?

How do I weld a a spring-harnessed articulating arm from a used desk lamp to my 27” iMac? A magnifying lens is attached at the “hand” that swivels any place in front of my 27 inch screen. I’m in need of a solution for reading the non-scaling teeny tiny text in iCal on a modern screen.

It’s so sad that I need to attach such a Steam Punk type contraption to what is supposed to be the sleak technology of the iMac.

iCal is a core macintosh application used every day, all day, to schedule our lives. The non-scaling font in the INFO box, the REMINDERS column and pull-downs is too small for today’s hi-resolution laptop and large desktop screens.
