thanks... i ran the test and it said "inactive plug-in"...

then i did all of the suggested fixes...

» Enable Java through your Web browser

» Clear Oracle Java Cache on Mac OS X

» Restore Java 6 after uninstalling Java on Mac OS X

» System Requirements

and i am still getting the same inactive plug-in message? i restarted the computer... quit and restarted safari? i am able to access the website that needs the java plug in when using firefox... but not with safari... safari seems to be running at 64 bit? here is a screen shot of safari info...

I purchased a new iMac 27" computer about a month ago (my first Apple). Since then every single step has been a learning experience.

I, too, am experiencing the same issue with the Java 7 Version 17 issue. I am a photographer and cannot download and use the ROES software I need to complete my business.

I confirmed everything suggested here. I also reduced my Java Control Panel>Security to Medium with no results.

How is it that Apple can just take away access like this? Why isn't Apple working to resolve this issue and inform us what to do?

Soupcook,

Apple took disabled Java because of security loop holes found in Java a few months ago. Also since the issue was found in Java which is owned my Oracle, its Oracle that would have to address the issue which they have. I did have Java blocked as well, but after installing the fixed version (Java 7) I have not experienced any similar issues. I am still looking for solutions for Panahead and will post it as soon as I find one which would also assist you I hope.

I appreciate the reply. It just seems a little wierd that Apple is this difficult to deal with. If they take the "Big Brother" role and dictate to 100,000's of Mac users that their computer will or will not work with Java, then they should be working very hard on the Users' behalf to resolve the issue. We have business to conduct and cannot.

Java requires that help be paid for by the minute. That is not helpful...especially if Java blames Apple for the issue (I don't know what they will actually do). But the Java site says Java 7 Version 17 will fix the issue...it has not for me (and others it appears).
