iPhone 4
No, putting it into DFU mode is not "resetting" the iPhone. If resetting is what you want to do, see:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
DFU mode is intended to facilitate a complete restore of the iPhone, usually for when the iPhone otherwise will not mount in iTunes on your computer, and restoring does erase everything on the iPhone.
Regards.
I don't want to reset it. I need dfu mode just don't wanna lose anything?
Placing the Device into DFU mode will Erase it.
Even it's connected to a pc?
Yes.
The guy above said it wouldn't do anything?
Please re-read that post.
DFU is NOT the same as a Reset.
Why exactly do you believe you need to put iPhone into DFU mode ?
Have you tried to change the iOS with an unofficial update ?
What do you think DFU mode does and why do you want to do this?
Maybe if we understood what you are trying to accomplish, your question might make some kind of sense.
No, that is not what I said. You need to read more carefully I said that DFU is not resetting, which is what you asked. Resetting an iPhone does not erase it. Putting it into DFU mode will require restoring the iPhone and that erases everything.
Ok. I forgot my password on my iPhone and was gonna use gecko iPhone toolkit to remember it, but in the steps I have to put my phone into DFU mode and i don't know what that is?

If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to Restore the device...
Connect to iTunes on the computer you usually Sync with and Restore...

If necessary Place the Device into Recovery mode...
Don't. You're asking for trouble.
Restore the phone using the computer you normally sync with. If that computer is not available, or you set the passcode since the last time you synced, then you will have to put the phone into Recovery mode and restore it.
EVERYTHING on the phone will be erased. You will have to restore it from your last backup.
Well it's for my friend and she hardly (if ever) updated it.
Then she's going to lose a lot of stuff...
