I recently made my first app and it was running fine in the iOS 6.1 simulator. Recently, however, whenever i start the simulator, it crashes and comes back with the main.m file with a line highlighted in green and it says Thread 1:signal SIGARBT. Is there any way to stop this error from coming up?

It can be because of the xib file is not correctly set, or the rootViewController is initialized wrong. I think you can put a debug at
- (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions
to track what cause this crash.
Are you sure your code has not been changed since the last time it worked correctly? If that's the case, may be your xib file has been changed. Even a small change can cause this kind of problems. Actually the error says that your code is accessing an object which is died and is no more in memory.
First check that your simulator is working correctly or not. Just creat a simple project and run it. If it works, there is no problem with you simulator.
Now you should check your specific project contents. Trace it to find what is happening. I emphasize again that if your are sure that code has not been changed, check your xib file.

I did add a large image view in the background, made a xib file, then deleted it and any reference I had to it. Unless a missed a line. I also deleted the image itself from the project.
The simulator is working fine though.
Any other ideas?
May be creating a new project and importing source code from the previous one, and then creating the xib file from scratch can help. I recommend this, so the xib file gets created again and any probable mistake which are not observable in the current project gets resolved.
