How to unlock phone need to save pictures on it

Hi can anyone help me? My preschooler put a passcode on my phone and of course has no idea what number he typed in. I have several photos I need to save. My sister said Apple can unlock the phone. Can they do that without wiping the phone clean of everything, including photos? Does anyone know a way to unlock the phone but save the photos? Please help!!

Thanks in advance,

Dina

The unlocking by the carrier and unlocking the passcode on the phone are two different things, and neither is connected to the other. As stated before the only way to remove the passcode is to restore to a backup on the computer you normally sync with. Did you ever backup the phone with the photos on it, or haven't you imported the photos to the computer like you would with any digital camera? See the User Guide with reference to forgetting your passcode. http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf

I am not aware of a way to unlock the phone without the passcode. Also, you are not addressing Apple here, we are users just like you. With the phone locked, it isn't possible to retrieve data. The only way to take off the passcode is to do a restore. If you had a backup of the phone with the photos on it, then you can restore from that backup. Make sure you are using the computer you normally sync with.

Thank you for the manual link. I do understand how to restore the phone. I also understand about backing up, yet had not gotten around to it and thus am desperate/asking this question. The answer is not only did I not back up, I have been getting 'Cannot back up you don't have enough storage in the cloud' type messages. The account is shared with an ipad stuffed to capacity with kid games. I did not expect my son to put a passcode on my phone (he's 5) but there it is. Thank you for your help.

The only answer to the backup issue you are experiencing is to either get more iCloud storage, or to backup on the computer via cable. I'm sorry this has occurred, but as an afterthought, if you are going to allow the child to use the device, bury the Settings app to prevent this type of occurrance in the future. I'm surprised the child was able to enter the passcode twice as needed to activate it.

You're welcome. Good luck.
