I'm here at a customer of mine and have a problem with a users iPhone 5. The user has an Exchange account on it but it doesn't work. I want to remove that account and create a new one but i can't.
If I go to Settings -> Email, Contacts... and then select the account nothing happens. The selection stays blue for about two minutes and then it goes back to the start screen. Software version is 6.1.3
What could be the problem of this?

Double click the Home button, hold down an app from multitasking bar and remove all apps from there by taping the little minus symbol.
Then reset the iPhone by holding down the Power and Home button together until Apple logo appears. Release and wait to reboot.
Now try again to delete the account.
I have done it but i still can't edit/remove the account.
Are restrictions on: Settings>General>Restriction...Allow Changes>Accounts>On/Off.
No restrictions are off.
What does his exchange admin say about this? Clarify how the exchange account got onto the phone, before you offer to assist in removing it. Is the holder of the phone the owner?
Try resetting the phone: Press the Sleep/Wake button & Home button at the same time, keep pressing until you see the Apple logo, then release. Now, try to delete the Exchange account.
I am the "Exchange Admin" 🙂. The customer is using Novell Data Synchroniserer. He is the owner of the phone. Other iPhone 5 users have no problem. I will try to reset the phone.
I have reset the phone. Still no luck.
Is there a profile installed con the phone as well? Try deleting the profile first if such exists.
There is no profile installed as far as i can see. Sorry for the questions but i'm not an apple user.
If there was one, it would be here: Settings>General>Profile.
Does a current backup of this phone exist? If so, Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings. That will nuke the Exchange account, but everything else as well.
No as far as i know there is no backup. Must this be done with iTunes or with an other tool?
You can backup to either iCloud or through iTunes. However, mail account settings are included in an iPhone backup. Thus, backing the phone up now will merely backup these corrupt settings, putting you right back where you are if you then restore this phone from that backup.

Go to Settings -> General -> Profiles
There you will find your exchange account, tap on it and then the red button "REMOVE"
and that's it !!
