My home sharing on my Apple TV was working fine. The basic function of the Apple TV is still working, but the home sharing will show a page from my macbook then update it a minute or so and then not at all?

The home sharing portion of my Apple TV stopped working correctly. The Image on my Macbook will show up on the TV, but it does not mirror with any speed and sometimes does not work at all. The regular function of Apple TV works fine. I recently installed a new wireless router. Is there a setting that needs to be changed or is it some other problem. My itunes are up to date and my Macbook is only 5 monthes old so should be fine too?
