Can someone please help me with some knowledge of flashing my atmel efi firmware chip, one of my friends at school donated a macbook to science so we can learn programming. Can you please help me, thanks I am willing to pay for help.

So what does learning how to program have to do with flashing the EFI firmware?
The Mac has the firmware Apple provides and they don't provide older versions, so what are you trying to do exactly?
My chip is blank and I need to learn how to program it, a few engineers know how to program EFi/BIOS chips, I need to know how to program EFI chips for a macbook pro 2010-2012. I hear that you need the original bin file.
Just how could a Mac EFI chip be blank? Then more then likely it is not a Mac you are trying to program.
It is a macbook pro A1278 it says it right underneath, I know what a Macbook is, this was donated for engineering, it was given to me and that is what the engineer said, he put a blank version in there

I don't think you or the engineer knows what you're talking about... or maybe you're misunderstanding what he wants. Ask specifically what you're trying to accomplish by this.
Here's the breakdown:
1- The engineer at the school had a macbook pro the atmel efi chip is what commands the booting, password and other aspects of the macbook
2- He said he never figured how to flash the efi chip either to reset it or install the firmware on the chip
3 - He gave it to me for free, if I can flash the efi chip or install the firmware on it I will have a good working macbook pro.
Just how did that chip lose it programing in the first place.
From everything I have found you can not do it inside the system and it takes special equipment to flash it.
OK, great. Now, let's back up and start again from a different perspective leaving out what this "engineer" said you should do.
What happens when you plug the laptop into power and try and turn it on?
The engineer removed the original chip and he said he bought a replacement on digikey.com and he wanted to attempt flashing the blank chip he bought from digikey
Ok, when I power it on, I see the blank mac white screen with the apple sign, I can't install the OS using the mac os x cd there no password request it simply wont load the installation cd

Go through steps 1, 2, 3 and post back what you get. For the time being, forget about what this engineer told you. Just wipe that from your mind for now.

I just ordered the part you discussed... When i get it i might have some questions about how to reset the atmel efi chip on my 2011 MBP.. Ill keep you posted.. Thanks
