apple mail changes my outgoing mail server port weekly. Why?

My apple mail account constantly refuses to send messages. When I check, the outgoing mail server port keeps reverting to 465 which is not the correct value. I have to change it back at least weekly. Not sure why it is changing or how I an make it stop. Anyone? Please?
