I recently got a new iPhone 4 and noticed that the pictures are mostly overexposed and sometimes the edges of people distorted, what coul be the problem? With my l old iPhone 4 I always got great pictures. Is the iPhone deffect or is it a hardware problem? Thanks in advance!

Make sure to clean the camera lens as well take care of a possible debris causing the focus to act wacky
Thank you for the tips, I removed the cover and cleaned the lens, but the problem still remains. The strange thing is the the horizontal stripes not always occur; sometimes there are a few, sometimes a lot. Maybe this picture helps? (the lines of the squares are supposed to be straight)
Those greenish and red lines in the grey parts of the photo look like jpeg fraktals. This can happen if you zoom into a picture before taking the photo. If you can visit an Apple Store, let them take photos with your devices and compare them to another iPhone 4, that way you could rule out a hardware problem.
