Try Force Quit. Apple logo menu > Force Quit > Highlight Mail > click.
If you are still having trouble with Mail check your version details. Mail menu > about Mail > the version number should be 4.6 (1085).
Let us know how you get on.
Thanks
I used force quit last few times to close it and now thatno longer seems to be a problem. I am still unable to delete mail though, and it is still stuck on send, sending an already sent message. The version is 4.6 (1085)
It seems more like a machine glitch than an ISP one. Two things to try ...
1. Disc Utilities > Repair permissions. Then try Mail again.
2. Download and apply the Combo update. Takes a bit of time but doesn't matter if you have done it before. It tends to shake up the system a bit and corrects any minor corruption.
Thanks, will try that.
