email delivery confirmation

does anyone know if mac mail is capable of sending the "sender" a confirmation receipt of successful delivery? with so many emails of importance being sent, it seems that mac mail should allow its users to request verification, at the very least, that the email was delivered successfully to the recipients server-better yet, the actual recipient. please let me know if this exists-thanks!

No fenton, does not exist. However, you can set up a Rule to trigger a reply to anyone who sends you mail.

But beware that this will validate your email address for every spam mail that you recieve and may loop endlessly if someone on the other end does the same, or has an out-of-office reply set up (unless their server is prepared to stop such a loop).

If you really need legal mail receipt certification, use special services such as

Real "big brother is watching you stuff" you may not want to use

thanks for the reply! just seems that with all the big brains out there and the fact that A LOT of users have requested this, mac would come up with a solution. oh well, maybe some day...
