iPhoto 11 does not compute.

I was running iPhoto 11 on a late 2011 MacBook Pro with Mac OSX v10.7.5. Suddenly iPhoto does not completely launch - I only get the menu bar at the top with most of the selections greyed. Any ideas why? Thanks.
