I turn on the do not disturb feature but my phone still rings normally.
I have no favorites and the phone is locked.
No scheduling is set.
Generally it will turn on and work normally but after some time has passed it just starts ringing again although it shows as still on.
I do make phone calls and send texts while in do not disturb mode which may or may not trigger the problem.
Anybody????

Typically, the only way that it will still ring is if you have contacts that have been "Favorited." If you do have "Favorites" then you have two options: 1) Delete them from you Favorites list, or 2) Go to Settings, then Notifications, Select Do Not Disturb, then change the setting for your "Allow Calls From" menu.

I agree with your statement above but this case is different.
When it is locked is the screen off?
IF the phone is not asleep and you are using it then DND does not function
It can be laying on my desk for hours. Black screen, fully asleep.
Once it starts ringing in DND mode it continues to ring for every call until I turn off DND for a while and then turn it back on again.
Have you tried a Reset? Hold down the sleep and home buttons, wait for the Apple logo, let go of the buttons.
I have not tried that. I will.
What all does this reset do?
It is analogous to rebooting your computer. You won't lose any data.
I will give it a shot.
