how can I tell if my apple tv is #1,2 or 3?

My model # is MC572 LL/A. I can not get my ipad mini to identify the apple tv so it will not mirror. I understand mirroring does not work on apple tv #1.

Make sure your Apple TV is on the latest version of its OS. If it is, or updating doesn't help, Apple has some additional suggestions here:
