Network connectivity problems.

I have recently had to reset my router. Following this my imac (mountain lion 10.8.3) wont remember my network. I have no problem connecting to the internet but have to do it manually each time I reboot. There is now no option to automatically connect when selecting the network. Funnily enough if I remove the security password to my router the imac then allows me to automatically connect to my network. I have tried deleting Key chain and also my network settings with no joy. Please help.

iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2011), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3)

Are you using a WPA - preferably WPA2 - password? Apparently, Macs don't play nice with WEP, plus the fact it's less secure.

If you are using WPA, try creating a New Network Location. Can sometimes help:

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your swift reply, I am using WPA. I have tried creating a couple of different network locations but with no joy. For some reason it just wont provide the check box option to automatically connect to a secured network. At a loss to be honest.

Are you saying you don't have the option I've highlighted in the image. Mine is left unticked and everything connects as it should.

I assume you've tried rebooting the router and the Mac?

Hi Paul,

Your a star, I removed all my networks then added them again. I have no unchecked this box (mis understood its purpose) and no it automatically connects!
