Q: I have recently had my Phone Stolen will it be erased if i have

Well needless to say it again through this message but if i accessed my phone through icloud and erased the data over the internet will it be erased as soon as the phone is turned on through my 3G service or does it need to actually be connected through the internet for the data to be completely wiped. Assistance to my question is appreciated.

Yes, it will work over 3G as well. I just set my iPhone in Lost Mode after deactivating the Wifi.

However, apple say on this page that :

    • Find My Mac can only locate your Mac if it is connected to the Internet via a known Wi-Fi network. If your Mac is connected to the Internet only by an Ethernet cable, Find My Mac will not be able to locate your Mac."

And on the Find My iPhone app page :

    • Internet connection is required. To be located, your iPad with Wi-Fi, iPod touch, or Mac must be connected via a registered Wi-Fi network. Your Mac must also be awake.

The fact that iPhone is not mentioned and "iPad with Wi-Fi" is specified says it all !

So all the devices other than the iPhone and iPad with 3G MUST be connected to Wifi in order to be locked or erased.

    Cheers.
