Passing session information with WebObjects

My team's lead developer is trying to figure out a way to pass session information in some other way than via the URL when using WebObjects.

Our site was built using WebObjects, but the problem we're now having is that when bloggers blog about us and post links from our site in their blog posts, the URL typically includes session information in it, and isn't valid for anyone other than the person who copied the link in the first place.

Bloggers trying to point people to www.example.com are instead blogging links such as http://www.example.com/cgi-bin/WebOb...oa/wo/0.11.3.8 (and then the links are dead when anyone other than the blogger tries to access the links)

Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

Sorry Ted, rasc2003 is correct.

Component URLs (WO URLS containing a session ID either in the URL or in a cookie) are transient and not suitable for public facing pages that need to be bookmarkable.

They work well for lots of stuff i.e: wizards, checkout, admin etc, whose very nature is transient and dependent on context. But if you need to allow the user to return to their place, Direct Action URLs are what you are looking for.

I wrote a series of blog posts several years ago that offer a primer on Direct Action use. I hope they prove helpful.
