Wii cannot connect to iphone hotspot

Hi!

I recently bought a Wii and wanted to connect it to the internet via my hotspot, but get error codes (partly about my password being wrong, though it's not) all the time, and haven't succeeded so far. I got a tip to connect without using a password, which is unfortunately not possible with my iphone 5, however it worked with a friend's phone. My question: Is there a way to create a personal hotspot without a password? Alternatively: Is there another way to work around this problem by adjusting other settings? (With routers there is the possibility to change channels, but that isn't possible with the iphone, right?)
