Q: my ipod is in recovery mode and my itunes cannot connect to the server what do i do?

Thanks for your reply, i tried some of your suggestions but don't want to start messing with dns etc... Is there not a simple and straightforward resolution? Some of the forums suggest very complex methods. What is the apple answer? This is very frustrating as all i wanted to do was sync some new songs I accepted the invitation to upgrade the ipod touch what did I do wrong?

Hi just wanted to thank you fot your help, I spoke to apple support on the phone and it turned out to be a host problem that had messed with the update. Once I had cleared the host then I was able to restore the ipod touch and get out of recovery mode. The problem I have now is trying to retrieve the apps and when I try to sync with itunes it does not put the music back onto the ipod touch. any ideas?

That is funny i tried the first lan settings approach but didnt move on to the next suggestion. I think that I might have looked at it and freaked out. When someone talks you through it on the phone it is less daunting. If I promise to follow your instructions fully this time can you give me some ideas how to re sync with itunes?

I know that you have better things to do than bother with my idiotic questions so I will stop bothering you. I have worked out that I can only sync with one version of itunes and as we set up a new user account and new itunes (to resolve the recovery mode problem) then it has none of my music on it. So I will try and work out how to reinstall music. But thanks for your help anyway. Paul
