Creation dates when copying folders...

Hello All,

When copying existing folders (containing files) on the Mac it seems to retain the existing creation date. Is this normal practice, as on Windows it will generate a new creation date for the folder and files.

Using Lion on Mac Pro.

Thanks for your help.

... and that would mean you lost the real and accurate date of the file, but if you look in Windows properites it is there. But on Mac it would be lost and is not there in Get Into.

You are using notebook MacBook Pro, not workstation 65lbs Mac Pro.

you brought up Windows, and I just brought up Properties for any file on NTFS.

HFSX of course is what you are likely using (you can use NTFS formatted using Paragon's driver for OS X).

You could use Tri–Backup 6 to do your copying and that is what I use but you are not "creating" a file. And Mountain Lion and Lion Added, Created, Opened, Modified

Have you checked to have those option on list views?
