Q: MerpAD Office365

Yes, thats what a poster earlier in this thread said too, what I want to know is whether the Office 365 Service is running, not whether you use it.

Look in Activity Monitor, and read this earlier post if you want to know why.

No, that's not what I meant.

Open Activity Monitor (Applications>Utilities) make sure that All Processes is selected and then look in the lefthand column (you can sort alphabetically) for a running process called Office365 Service, or anything containing the phrase.

I should have added that I knew Office365Service was running because I saw it in the Activity Monitor. Besides that, there is no other indication that it is open.

Force quit it, after that move (or delete) the Office365 app. Then see if the MerPadOffice365 file reappears.

I've never used the Office365 service.

You are using Office365 although I believe that you did not plan on it, it is running, that's why you can't delete it.

I was able to move it and it does appear to have solved the problem. If it comes back I'll let you know. I tried this before, but I was having trouble getting the file to move out of the Office folder.

That is because the Office365 was running, normal behaviour. Once you stopped the service you freed the app for moving or deletion.

Open Word or Excel and ensure that their are no error messages resulting from moving the file (zip the file up first, just in case it's location can be found by the apps)

It is giving me an error message when I shut down without closing the applications first.

I need to know what is giving you an error message and the exact error message please.

t doesn't seem to do it every time. When it does, it says:

Microsoft Word has encountered a problem and needs to close.

Test for a while, Office has plenty of errors with or without the 365 service.

I found that if you disable Office error reporting the recovered files folder will stop to appear in the trash at each start. Here's the procedure:

1. Open application Office error reporting, the application is located in this folder

      /Library/Application Support/Microsoft/MERP2.0

2. Go in preferences

3. Uncheck enable office error reporting

That seems to do the trick! Have you noticed any effect on performance or other aspects of using any of the Office programs?

I found this solution today so I can't say at long term but for now all seems to work flawlesly.

Don't know if this is the page where you found the information, but it also mentioned there was a newer version of the MERP (Microsoft Error Reporting Program) for Mountain Lion-MERP 2.2.9. I downloaded it and turned it back on, but it did the same thing. So I turned it off and now the file MerpAd Office365 no longer shows up at startup.
